Mortti Saarnia (b. 1990) is a Finnish photographer and filmmaker based in Helsinki. Saarnia works with photography, moving image and installations. His work often explores the connection between mainstream culture and personal identity. He draws inspiration from stories, gender studies, and his own queer experience.
As an artist, Saarnia is theory-driven and deeply engaged with popular culture. He graduated as an artist from the Turku Arts Academy in 2016 and as a Master of Arts (Art and Design) from Aalto University 2020.
At this time, Saarnia is not active on social media, as he chooses to build his artistic practice outside algorithm-driven visibility. However, he works actively as a photographer and artist across both creative and commercial projects — enquiries are warmly welcome via email.
